Small business · with my brother Ben
Oregon Collective
A marketing co-op for small fence and deck companies.

The contractor page I built
The idea
Small fencing shops with one or two crews get outspent on ads by regional companies. In a co-op, members pool one ad budget, and each homeowner request goes to exactly one member in a fair rotation.
Designing how it runs
I wrote the operating model: how leads are routed, pricing options, member onboarding, what happens with a bad lead, what a member keeps if they leave, and the texts a homeowner gets. Every decision and open question went into a dated log, 37 of them so far.
We also wrote down what we'd never do: no fake testimonials, no fake "spots left" counter, no guaranteed-jobs language, and no published price per lead until there's real data behind it.
A simulator that caught a problem
Something felt off between the way the money would be split and the promise we were making to members. I built an interactive simulation of the lead rotation that plays out day by day and month by month. It showed the two rules really did conflict, before anyone had signed up.
Where it stands
The site is live and the accounts are set up. The co-op hasn't launched and has no members yet.
