How it works
The idea
Contractors get burned by customers who pay late or keep changing the job, and there's no way to check first. This is a private lookup where only licensed contractors can join and see how other contractors rated a customer, without seeing who wrote each rating.
The spec came first
I wrote the trust model and the edge cases before the code: verify the contractor's state license or block the signup, match customers by name with a confidence level that rises with an address and a phone number, and warn when a match is weak.
Privacy as requirements
Phone numbers are stored hashed, never as plain text. Sign-in is protected against attackers guessing which accounts exist, there's rate limiting, and a moderation queue for flagged reports. Payments are stubbed and it isn't deployed.
